Parking, Traffic Woes: Panel to Seek Residents’ Suggestions
September 19, 2013

Keeping in mind the ever increasing parking and traffic woes a panel has decided to take the suggestions of the city residents. Parking and traffic is a serious problem among the city residents. A Master Plan to improve the parking and traffic was drafted and the residents were asked to submit suggestions and objections till August 10, 2013.

It has come to light that till the last date about 176 objections have been received. A committee would be constituted that will look into the suggestions and objections. A senior UT official said that the process of formation of the committee is going on. A decision would then be taken about the redressal of the objections.

The city has nearly 9 lakh vehicles. There is also a floating vehicular population of around one lakh. The development in the peripheral areas will further compound the problem. However, the plan, instead of offering any concrete measures for the same has mooted promotion of cycling as a plausible solution.
