Two People Arrested with Fake PU I-Card and Weapons
August 17, 2013

Ahead of Panjab University (PU) elections, the police arrested two youths and recovered a country-made pistol and four live cartridges. During the investigation the police also recovered fake PU I-card from them.

The whole incident took place when a car was seized from Lovekesh of Mohali and Harpreet Singh of Fathegarh Sahib. One of their accomplices, Baljeet Chaudhary, escaped when police approached them. During the court trail on August 16, 2013 the court sent the two in police custody for two days.

The fake ID mentioned that Lovekesh was a student of MA second-year. However, Lovekesh is a driver, while Harpreet a property dealer. Sources said the car was provided by Baljeet, who had been arrested earlier in connection with three assault cases, including two relating to PU poll violence. Sources said the accused purchased the pistol from Uttar Pradesh for Rs 30,000 three months back.
