Metro for Manimajra
August 8, 2013

With the aim of addressing to ever growing traffic on the road, the Chandigarh Administration has decided to provide a metro rail to the congested Manimajra area. The original plan had the tube running to Panchkula from Chandigarh Housing Board chowk, leaving out the suburbs.
After a detailed analysis of the traffic scenario in Manimajra, the administration has decided to ask Delhi Metro rail Corporation (DMRC) to make changes in the route of the Metro corridor. Earlier, the second phase of the project would have brought the tube closest to Manimajra through Rajiv Gandhi Chandigarh Technology Park.

Connectivity along the east-west corridor running from Transport Chowk, Mallanpur, to Grain Market, Panchkula, through the proposed Metro node at Chandigarh Housing Board Chowk has been finalized by the DMRC.
