Education Department to Reimburse RTE Bills
May 16, 2013

To meet the long-pending demand of private schools, the UT Education Department has finally initiated the process of reimbursing the bills submitted by private schools regarding the expenditure incurred on the economic weaker section (EWS) students and disadvantaged groups admitted under the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (RTE) Act for the past three years.

To verify the bills, the department has asked the schools to submit documents containing information regarding the number of EWS students admitted, attendance records and fee structure of the school. The office of District Education Officer (DEO) is looking at the matter and verifying the documents submitted by the private schools.

The Education Department has told the schools that reimbursement will be done for only 10 percent EWS and for the disadvantaged group’s admission. The reimbursement amount was calculated after considering the recurring expenditure on a child divided by the number of students in the elementary section of the schools.
