Mohali Restaurateur Stabs Wife At Home
August 22, 2013

Suspecting an extra-marital affair, a Mohali restaurateur allegedly stabbed his wife on August 21, 2013, at their resident in Sector 48, Chandigarh. His wife was rushed to Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), where doctors said her condition is critical.

Her 37-year-old husband has been taken into custody by the Chandigarh Police after he surrendered and admitted to his crime. He has been booked on charges of attempt to murder at the Sector 31 police station. The knife, with which he stabbed his 35-year-old wife, has also been recovered.

While her family claims that the man stabbed his wife several times, police sources say that the restaurateur knifed her only once in the stomach.

For the past four to five days, the two were constantly fighting. The man accused her of having an extra-marital relationship. The wrath turned him violent and he stabbed her several times on her body and later surrendered before the police.

The victim’s brother said that the accused had attempted to kill his sister on Sunday as well with a sword. According to the police, the accused runs a Chinese restaurant in Mohali. The couple has two sons, aged 9 and 13, who were in school at the time of the incident.
