Finally Some Relief to Vats’ Family

In 2003, Major Navneet Vats lost his life fighting terrorists in Srinagar. It is a decade since Neeraj and Vichitra Veena Vats lost their elder son Major Navneet. Vichitra Veena Vats a 70-year-old lady is now left with only 28-year-old differently abled son, Nimish, without any support.

For the past ten years, Vichitra Veena Vats had been asking the Government to provide aid to her. However, till now the Government had not taken any concrete step. Recently, it was heard that Santosh Chowdhary, Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Government of India has promised to help the martyr’s family in all possible means.

While speaking to media persons, Santosh Chowdhary expressed grief over the sad state of the martyr’s family members. The minister further assured that she would be writing to all the concerned authorities who can provide help to the family.

An old age home being run by Colonel (retired) Rajinder Singh has also forwarded a helping hand to the Vats family. The old age home named 'Akal Old Age Home' is located in complex of Gurudwara Ratwara Sahib in Mullanpur. Around 30 people live there. Rajinder Singh said that the mother and son can stay with us and we will be more than happy to support them.
