Inter-State Gang Busted

Police on August 28, 2013 busted a gang that used to rob people by giving them lifts and later looting them of cash and jewellery. The gang was involved in incidents of robbery in Uttrakhand, Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan. They have confessed to their involvement in at least six crime incidents in Ambala.

Police said the tribal gang headed by a woman was busted when they were carrying out a robbery near Ambala. Some six cases of robbery have been attributed to the gang and police is investigating their involvement in other crime incidents in Panchkula and Chandigarh.

Police arrested five members of the gang. Police have recovered a knife, one sword, iron rods and a vehicle from their possession. Most of the cases they have confessed are from rural parts of Ambala district, police said. During investigation some of the cases that have been solved after the arrest of the gang include an incident of loot in Mullana where a 60-year-old woman was looted of her 4 gold bangles. On 11 May this year, the gang committed loot in Mahesh Nagar area in which a woman Sakuntala was robbed of her 2 gold bangles.
