August 8, 2013

It has come to light that a teacher has lost Rs 14,000 in an ATM fraud case while she was trying to withdraw the amount from a vending machine of a private bank on the Zirakpur-Ambala highway. Upasna Chandel, a resident of Chandigarh Enclave Society in Zirakpur, said she could not withdraw the money as there was insufficient cash. However, she received a text message of Rs 14,000 being debited from her account after around 20 minutes. The cyber cell of Mohali police has registered a case against an unknown person. Chandel alleged a youth was roaming around the ATM machine in a suspicious manner.

She alleged he even tried to talk to her while she was going inside. While commenting upon the case the police said that as she could not withdraw the amount, she left and the man, who was in early thirties, went inside the booth.
