Lounge Raided For Serving Liquor to Minors

On September 18, 2013, the Chandigarh police raided a lounge in Sector 8. The raid was planned after the police received information regarding minor girls consuming alcohol there. However at the time of the raid the police failed to find any evidence.

No minor girl was found being served liquor. However, during proper investigation, it was brought to light that the lounge, Nirvana, had allowed the youth to consume liquor without having a valid license and the police intimated the Excise officials to take necessary action.
The Excise department officials paid a visit to the place and said that they can’t take any action as evidence is lacking. The police conducted a thorough investigation by questioning the youth for almost three hours. Their identification was also checked. Following the investigation, the Police Commissioner Panchkula-Ambala range, Rajbir Deswal said it was found that the youth who had come to celebrate the party were not at fault.
