October 3, 2013

On September 26, 2013, defects in the power transmission caused damages to the electric appliances of a number of houses of Sector 2, Panchkula.

According to the residents, high voltage electricity was supplied to some 10-12 houses. Due to the fault in the transmission system, residents complained that their ceiling fans, laptops and even some television sets were damaged.

A spokesman of the Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam Ltd (UHBVNL) said there was a fault in the transmission system which has now been rectified. However, residents had to bear the brunt of the high voltage by getting their electronic appliances repaired. The authorities haven’t yet announced any compensation to the residents against the damaged electric appliances.
