Charges Framed Against Two Accused on Rape-On-Wheels Case
September 19, 2013

On September 18, 2013, the court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Najar Singh framed charges against the two accused in the rape-on-wheels case. The accused M K Jain, a business man from the city and Manoj Pal have been charged with appropriate sections of the IPC.

While registering an FIR against the accused the victim said that she was drugged and abducted from Amartex Chowk, Industrial Area on February 8, 2003.

Terminder Singh, advocate of the accused said that the same woman has previously tried to defame M K Jain and Manoj Pal by framing false allegation of rape. He asked the court not to trust the statement of the lady. However, the charges against M K Jain have been framed in doubtful circumstances.

Terminder Singh also said that in 2002 the Chandigarh Police had registered a case against former UT home secretary N K Jain and four others for hatching a conspiracy to frame Jain in the rape case.
The victim, a Shimla-based girl, had alleged that Jain had picked her up from a Sector 20 computer centre, saying he would give her a job. On their way to Panchkula, she alleged, Jain gave her a drink laced with drugs and later raped her, before dumping her near the Sector 33 petrol pump.

However, after investigations conducted by the UT police, it came to light that the victim had not been raped by Jain, but by the former UT home secretary, who hatched a conspiracy to falsely involve the businessman.
