July 25, 2013

With the Joint Action Committee protest entering day five, the protesting teachers on July 24, 2013 resorted to a 'symbolic road block' keeping in view the inconvenience to the public at large. Around 650 teachers of JAC (UT) also observed a 'black day' by wearing black clothes and black badges. The teachers are protesting against suspension orders and an FIR against the four government teachers.

A per the plan of JAC, the committee was supposed to organize a rally but heavy police force deployment prevented them to go any further. Despite constant pressures on the JAC leadership to shift the venue, the protest continued at the same place.

The leaders who addressed the gathering again emphasized that the teachers are not against the faculty development program However, they said that it should be postponed for the time being and the method adopted by the department should be teacher friendly not humiliating. In addition to the suspension orders and the FIR lodged against them, the show cause notices have been served to more than 100 teachers should be withdrawn soon. The committee of JAC decided that the teachers will gather in front of the DEO office Sector 19, on today at 3.30 pm.
